Sorry, just a couple more points. We don't have an amazing health plan in town. It's about in line with the corporate world and it gets more expensive every year just like everyone else's. And I don't know ANYONE retiring at age 55!!! And the 80% of your salary is a retirement package that is solely paid for by teachers and you get the 80% only under certain conditions. It won't be a whopping 401K paid for with employer contributions. All I'm saying is that I suspect, like always, the education profession will continue to be filled with the type of person who isn't motivated by money. It's a labor of love---and I wouldn't do anything else.
